Commercial Grade SPC Flooring 5mm with 0.5mm Wear Layer

SPC flooring is often chosen on colour and price alone. This item is specified on the two numbers that decide how long a floor lasts in a busy space: 5 mm overall thickness and a 0.5 mm wear layer. That combination is what lets the same plank go into a shop entrance, an office corridor or a hotel lobby instead of only a bedroom.

The board is a stone plastic composite rigid core, so it does not swell when water sits on it and it does not expand and contract like a wood-based floor. The click lock joint holds the planks together as a floating floor over most sound, flat substrates, and an IXPE attached pad can be supplied factory-bonded to the back for underfoot comfort and impact sound reduction.

Installation

1. Acclimatise the cartons on site for 24-48 hours at normal room temperature.
2. Check the substrate is flat, dry and clean; use a levelling compound where required and a vapour barrier over concrete.
3. Leave an expansion gap of about 8-10 mm at all walls and fixed objects.
4. Start in a corner, engage the click lock along the long edge, then press the short edge home at an angle.
5. Stagger end joints by at least 30 cm between rows; cut planks with a fine-tooth saw or utility knife.
6. Finish with skirting or matching trims, and remove spacers after the last row.

Why the Wear Layer Matters

The wear layer is the clear film on top of the printed decor, and it is the part that takes the abrasion. A 0.3 mm layer suits residential rooms, while 0.5 mm is the usual specification for commercial interiors where trolleys, chairs and constant foot traffic act on the surface. Because the wear layer and the rigid core are specified together, buyers can match one product family to several project types instead of sourcing two separate floors.

Q1. What is the difference between the 0.3 mm and 0.5 mm wear layer versions?
Both use the same rigid core and click lock joint. The 0.5 mm wear layer is specified for commercial traffic such as shops, offices and hotel lobbies, while 0.3 mm is normally chosen for residential rooms.

Q2. Is an underlay needed?
The IXPE pad can be factory-bonded to the back of the plank, so no separate underlay is needed. Planks without pad can also be supplied if the project uses its own underlay.

Q3. Is it suitable for bathrooms and kitchens?
The core is waterproof, so surface water does not damage the plank. Standing water should still be wiped up and the perimeter sealed according to the project specification.

Q4. Can it be installed over underfloor heating?
Please confirm the heating system and surface temperature limits with our sales team before ordering, so the correct thickness and pad are specified.

Q5. What is the MOQ and lead time?
200 sqm with mixed colours accepted. Samples in 3-5 days, bulk production in 25-35 working days after deposit.

Q6. Which click system is used?
A click lock profile that works with common accessory ranges. Unilin-type and Valinge-type profile options can be supplied on request.

Damp mop with a neutral cleaner. No waxing or polishing is needed.
